Inhaftierung der "Cuban 5" willkürlich

16. Juli 2005: Die Erklärung der Arbeitsgruppe für willkürliche Verhaftungen der UN-Menschenrechtskommission über die fehlerhafte Behandlung und das unfaire Verfahren gegen die Cuban Five, erfährt eine bemerkenswerte Berichterstattung. Eine Meldung der Associated Press ist zumindest im Miami Herald, in USA Today und einigen kanadischen Medien verbreitet worden.

UN Working Group decides that the detention of the Cuban Five is arbitrary
Recently it was known that the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detentions (Human Rights Commission) declared on May 27, 2005, that the deprivation of liberty of Antonio Guerrero Rodriguez, Fernando González Llort, Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, Ramón Labañino Salazar and René González Sehweret is arbitrary and requested the Government of the United States to adopt the necessary steps to remedy this situation. The Group adopted that decision following a request made by the families of the five Cubans after evaluating arguments put by both the families and the US government.

Considera panel de ONU ilegal la detención de Los Cinco
La Habana, 14 jul (AIN) La detención de los cinco antiterroristas cubanos prisioneros políticos en EE.UU. es arbitraria y viola el derecho internacional, determinó un panel de la Organización de Naciones Unidas (ONU).
Desde la ciudad suiza de Ginebra, la agencia de noticias AP divulgó un dictamen al que tuvo acceso y cuyo cumplimiento no es obligatorio.
El fallo del grupo de trabajo de la ONU sobre detenciones arbitrarias afirma que a Los Cinco y a sus abogados se les ha negado el acceso total a las evidencias.
